I am neither Black nor an employee of Kinney or USPS. However, I am an employee of the Reed college mail room; my boss is white and his assistant black. I find this joke profoundly insulting in light of the amount of work put in by my Black colleague and his constant good spirits and civility. Please, no flames; I realize it's my own fault for not 'n'ing an article with that header, but I'm really shocked that someone could post a joke that is this blatantly racist. On another note, someone inquired as to whether feminists had less sense of humor than other groups. I'm a feminist, and probably humorless by some definitions, but I'd like to point out that I try to be sensitive to hurtful jokes of many kinds, including jokes about any number of . I am not going to suggest that everyone should stop telling jokes; but I hope that people who choose to tell these jokes will think about the hate/fear of difference behind such jokes, and consider the possibility that they are hurting certain people far more than they are entertaining others.
