Have you ever looked at a baby tooth that has been pulled out?
(As opposed to falling out.)  My daughter had her two baby eye-teeth
pulled for orthodontal work.  They had roots about 1/2 inch long.
Poor thing--we had a good dentist and it didn't hurt to pull them,
but she suffered for about a week afterward.
