   The Rational compiler (from Rational systems) keeps the source in
DIANA (and pretty-prints it on demand for editing purposes).  As I 
understand it, after a compilation unit is entered, it is then compiled
from the DIANA representation.  No other form of source representation
is used.

   I suspect all of the Rational tools work on DIANA directly, without
conversion to Ada representation.`
