that is because in the old TOS every other pixel was the foreground color,
why ? i dont know !

(i believe this is correct) the font-maker worked by replacing the
'standard font' in TOS with its own by changing a vector, with TOS
in rom guess what (hint: the RO stands for read-only (:-))
