It produces the best code of the three major C compilers (Aztec, Consulair, & MegaMax), they give great support, and they include utilities like make and grep that Consulair charges extra for. Bad side: doesn't work with HFS (yet) unix style interface (some people think this is a plus) Consulair's compiler gets my second place vote, and it scores points for using the Mac interface, being MDS compatible, and having a nifty profiler desk accesorry (if you buy the $100 utilities pack). Bad side of Consulair is the rather poor code generation & the high prices they charge for upgrades. Both of these compilers may be obsoleted by Apple's version of Green Hills C, which unfortunately won't be available to the general public until Sept. or later. However, both Aztec and Consulair both claim to have compilers which produce better code than Green Hills in the works. Megamax? Well, lets just say that I don't like it, and leave it at that. It does compile very quickly though. Andrew Shebanow shebanow@ernie.berkeley.edu
