Has anyone come up with a consistent scheme for I/O redirection on the
Mac?

Specifically, is there any easy way to redirect output that a program is
sending to a file to, say, the printer, or vice versa?

Most operating systems make this easily available, yet I haven't seen it
on the Mac.
