Xenix / IBM AT / internal hayes 1200 on tty01

Modem will not answer. Hayes internal does not have an auto-answer switch
and seems to be under the sole control of an internal control register (ala
smartcom). 

Is it possible to use an internal modem for dial-up port on Xenix AT ?

If anyone has experience with this matter please respond on email.
