They reacted about the same as for the Monolith Slab. For better or worse, 2001 strongly influenced every sci-fi flick made since, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it here! (Or did Karen von Blixen/Isak Denisen write that scene into her stories? Did Kubrick find it in there??) A really funny scene in a serious, beautiful, and very good movie. (Yes, Redford should have spoken with a British accent). mike k
