Regarding the query about Mozart operas turned into movies,
apart from the Bergman "Magic Flute" and Joseph Losey's
"Don Giovanni", there is also a filmed live performance of "Don Giovanni"
from the '50s with Cesare Siepi in the title role. It is screened
from time to time in repetory film theatres in New York and
no doubt elsewhere.
