I don't think that extended expiration dates should be allowed at all. I think that new versions of news should only act on Expires values that are SHORTER than the time specified in the expire command or by default. A posted article normally hogs space on thousands of systems for a couple of weeks, and it seems to me that that's quite enough for a poster to demand. Mark Brader
