I think that none of the people who are "opposed to airbags" are actually
against airbags as an option.  We simply don't want to be forced to have
the things in *our* cars.  We also don't want to pay for equipment that we
don't want and don't need.

I'd be willing to support a law requiring auto manufacturers to offer
airbags as an option on some or all models.  But only if the entire cost 
of the airbag option is included in the price of the option.
