The ANC pursued a non-violent policy for many years without success.  You
may think they weren't patient enough, and you may think their present
policy is likely to be disastrous; but you can't blame them for not trying.

(By the way, the big problem in South Africa is not the "coloreds", who
are persons of mixed race, but the "blacks", who are the majority.)
