I have several logs and other freshly cut pieces of wood which I would
like to dry.  In their natural form they have already started to crack
at the end.  How should one go about drying them?

Also, I am just starting out in this area and would appreciate any
hints anyone could give my on good books to read, equipment to buy, etc.
