I'm a cottage industry, and I sympathize with John Nagle's dilemma over
what one calls oneself.

When I taught a half-day class at Burroughs a while back, the
guy who hired me told me that Burroughs classified temporary
hires in three categories:

(1) Teacher - teaches
(2) Contractor - builds something
(3) Consultant - borrows your watch to tell you what time it is

Ever since then I've called myself a "contractor".
