Dear Jim, My I ask you WHY Canada is an example of having "your information controlled"? The ONLY relevant case that comes to my mind is a possible instance of newspaper anti-trust. I don't see how anyone with 20/20 vision could honestly call Canada's information "controlled"; might you be referring to something of which I'm not aware?
