Originally it was planned to be a four part story, with The Dominators as a six part, but The Dominators was cut by one episode. This resulted in a quick writing of the first episode. The budget allowed no set construction or the like, so they used a white stage. It came out rather well, and I'll bet that if you didn't know that, you'd never have thought that part was added in at the last minute. Frazer Hines' cousin had to play the part of Jamie in episode two because Frazer had a bad case of the flu and he couldn't be written out. (I suspect there were contingency plans to continue him into episodes 3-5 if needed.) All in all, still my favourite story of all time. -- James C.
