John's going to die of embarrassment, just after killing me for publishing
the "fix", which he found just before I had a chance to whip my voltmeter 
out...

One of the four tractor feed clamps (the one with the "out of paper" 
microswitch) was open.

Just a reminder to check the obvious...  Too bad his printer didn't have
an indicator lamp...
