I remember vividly a stretch of roadway in New Mexico, we were doing ~70 and had not seen a car going in either direction for about 3+ hours (We did see a lot of sand though :-}). The point that I am trying to make is that the speed limits should be dependent on the road conditions, and the location of said roadway. If you have ever driven on Long Island, you would know that it is almost impossible to do 55, let alone drive above the speed limit!
