I am thinking of buying a vertical compass (not a DG),
as a backup in case of electrical failure.
Does anyone have any experience with these things?
Will it be more stable than my regular magnetic compass?

I have heard of "Precision Instruments" and "Hamilton".
Are these brands, and if so, is one better than the other
(perhaps more reliable)?
