a couple weeks ago, there was a note claiming that honey danber gets
the ownership wrong when making subdirectories.  this is false.  honey
danber does the mkdir dance right, and always has.  (see guy's note for
the steps.)  so if you think honey danber is getting this wrong, your
"system v" is broken.
