If you check the copyright notice in the strip you will find that these are
old strips. Another clue is that the dates that appear in the frames themselves
are not present.  As to the drawing all the characters were drawn differently
in the early days.  The change in the drawing of Opus between his first 
appearance in and the end of the first book of collected strips is very
striking.
