I see immense improvements in the first area (a PC a person for intro. courses is an improvement over cards... and many places have sufficient computing power to use cycle and memory hogs like Ada and Common Lisp -- even grossly underfunded canadian universities). Too put it bluntly, it stinks! You have to realise that students now are much more conservative than a few years ago. They can't party all the time and still rest assured to find a job...
