Texas CS Dept., Austin, Texas Lines: 27 Keywords: Hurt report A friend and I just completed the MSF basic motorcycle safety course. We both found it worthwhile, though I've been riding over 2 years and my friend even longer. The instructor had a summary of the results from the Hurt report. The most interesting stat was that most motorcycle accidents involve a car hitting a bike at an intersection, where the bio%is going straight across and the car is coming from the other direction and making a left turn (across the path of the bike). So FRONTAL visibility is important -- I went out and bought a fairing (we both also have headlight modulators, and they make a big difference). The Hurt report is apparently a lengthy document, but here's the citation off the summary if anyone wants it (it is available from NTIS, and perhaps USC): Hurt, H.H., Ouellet,J. V., and Thom, D.R.
