   I suggest we take a moment to reflect on the passing of a once great instit-
   ution -- net.jokes.  

   While the newsgroup still exists, it will not be long on the net for it 
   not longer holds to its purpose and tradition.

   But worry not, I suspect that we will soon see a new news group -- net.whine.
   There won't be any jokes, per se, but it will be funny (in a sadistic sort of   way).

   
   SERIOUSLY,  I have just waded through 100 postings on net.jokes, and not one    of them was an attempt at a joke!  (Well, maybe one).  Usually, out of a 
   hundred submissions, you might find funny joke.  But, when the all the
   postings are complaints, and complaints about complaints and complaints about
   . . . well, how boring.  How negative.  How futile.  

   For those of you who do not like the jokes on net.jokes, why not create a 
   mod.humor?  Or maybe you are afraid that nothing would ever get posted?

   It's been said before, but let me give it another try:  if you seriously do 
   not like a joke, ignore it!  Stop trying to correct the values of certain
   segments of society by treating the minor symptom of a poor wit!  If some-
   thing that appears funny to someone is actually represents a very serious 
   social problem, make a comment in net.somethingorother, not net.jokes.  

   Realize, first and foremost, that the effects of such comments in net.jokes
   are probably counter-productive.

   Enough!  This is too boring, and I apologize.
