Reprinted without permission from Herb Caen's column in the San
Francisco Chronicle, the closest thing SF has to a daily newspaper
(it *is* daily, but ...):

	During the Virginia Slims tennis tourney ... Martina
	Navratilova walked over to umpire Marv Goldberg to prtest a
	call.

	Martina: "Both Ros (her opponent Rosalyn Fairbank) and I
	thought the ball was good."

	Goldberg: "It was out by eight inches."

	Martina, walking away, "Men have been telling women it was
	eight inches since the beginning of time!"

Of course, *I* would never tell such a lie.  A mere eight inches? :-)
