This is a "meta-response" regarding the assembler vs. hll debate, so no summary is required. C'mon people, the decision to use assembler or an hll should be a pure ENGINEERING (i.e. get the right tools for the job ) decision. Sometimes this is made for you; I had to write a terminal program in assembler because the total amount of memory availible was 512 BYTES. I wrote a word processor in PASCAL because I didn't want to stumble my way through 100,000 lines of 6502 code looking for dumb mistakes. Which was the wrong decision? In the "real" world everything is a trade-off between speed, compactness, portability, and maintainability. THESE should be the guidelines for the decision of assembler vs. hll, rather than everyone mounting thier hobby- horse and riding off into the sunset. andty voder, loral, pyramid!kontron!andyt *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* INSERT YOUR FAVORITE DISCLAIMER HERE
