I am having a GREAT deal of difficulty installing DOE-MACSYMA, version 8.23 on
a Vax 8600 under VMS 4.2.  The problem is with NIL:  no matter what I try, 
I can't seem to get it up. (You must admit that's a serious problem :-).

Has anyone succeeded in bringing up NIL under 4.2, and if so are there
any changes or recompilations I must carry out to get it up and running?
The version that DOE sent was NIL version 286, and the backup tape
was made under VMS 3.1 on 8-MAY-1984.  Much to my chagrin, I do not have
access to a BLISS compiler.

Is anyone from Paradigm on the net?
