My question is: did I treat it > properly... I'm not an MD, and this being one of the few newsgroups with bona-fide experts attending (no pun attended), you'll likely get some better answers. Now, disclaimer aside, here is some sage advice I got from a sports physician. For any athletic injury of uncertain (but obviously not critical) extent, he said you can't go wrong with RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. If you have a problem that needs medical attention, you'll find out for sure within a few days, and meanwhile you won't do any harm. So, it sounds like you did the right things. This advice may be over simple, but it's the kind of memorable summary which we need, those of us who aren't doctors, don't have the time to be knowledgeable about medicine, and don't want to bother a doctor every time we have a minor complaint.
