Message-ID: <315@unirot.UUCP> Date: Fri, 28-Feb-86 07:26:32 EST Article-I.D.: unirot.315 Posted: Fri Feb 28 07:26:32 1986 Date-Received: Sat, 1-Mar-86 22:32:59 EST Organization: The Soup Kitchen Lines: 27 After years of parents, college clinics, Bellevue clinics, Mass General clinics and (recently) an HMO style clinic -- I am finally getting on Blue Cross. So, for the first time, the choice of doctors is up to me. My mother, among other people, keeps telling me that any *GOOD* doctor in this area would be practicing in NYC, but I hate the idea of commuting 45 minutes for regular medical care. Is it possible to get a good doctor in a small town? Doctors I KNOW I need: An orthopedist (my search for a decent knee man is what led me to leave the clinics). A pain doctor (my surgeon has suggested we use nerve blocks instead of more surgery, which would probably leave me crippled). A diet doctor of some sort (I am intensly hypoglycemic...somewhat like the person who posted about a month ago). An internist. A gyn. How do I go about finding good specimens of such?
