Lines: 26 From: Bernie Cosell In fact you are running into a little publicized compatibility problem. It appears that Workbench 1.0 doesn't know how to set the date for Kickstart 1.1. Thus, *NOTHING* you do will result in the date being set if you are trying to run in that configuration. I pushed on it a fair bit and as odd as it seems, this is the *only* odd behavior I was able to uncover. [to see this more clearly, fire up a CLI window and just try "DATE " "DATE" and you'll see that the date doesn't `take']. I'm a little surprised that this never got publicized *especially* to the dealer: folks who got their Amigas with 1.0 software discovered that most of the neat new programs (DPAINT was the one I hit) *required* Kickstart 1.1, so dealers happily supplied that. Mostly they did *not* worry much about giving you Workbench 1.1 to go with it (they *would*, but they didn't know that they *should*). In sum, if you have Kickstart 1.1, and don't have Workbench 1.1 to go with it, *go back and get an updated workbench disk!!*. /Bernie Bernie Cosell Internet: cosell@prophet.bbn.com Bolt, Beranek & Newman, Inc USENET: bbncc5!bpc Cambridge, MA 02238 Telco: (617) 497-3503
