In the March BYTE, there is an article on the 1040ST which mentions 
that at some point there will be a socket in the 1040 motherboard for 
a graphics chip followed at some time later with an actual chip to go 
into the socket. I don't know about anyone else, but if it will cost 
me a lot of money to exchange my motherboard for one with a socket or 
if I don't know how much it will cost to upgrade then I'll wait a few 
months (or more) to get the real thing. 

Will someone at Atari please clarify the availability of the socket 
and the availability and capabilities of the forthcoming graphics chip.
