That means your order has to be individually approved by the Product Manager. Most copies have been going to software companies and to Bell Labs. A newer, faster, fuller-featured release will be generally available this Spring. Watch for the announcement. UNIX on the PLUS runs reasonably well in 1 Mbyte of memory on the motherboard. If you run an MS-DOS process (especially one bigger than 256Kb) or if you have two or more serious users logged in, then you really need more memory. A memory expansion card will be available at the same time as UNIX. The card can have from 0.5Mb to 2.0 Mb. A rule of thumb for *comfortable* performance: 1Mb for UNIX, 0.5MB for MS-DOS, 0.5Mb per additional user. Of course, you can get away with less, and your mileage may differ depending on your driving habits and road conditions. UNIX on the PC6300 PLUS is real SVR2, with several enhancements and a nice user interface. uucp certainly is included. nroff/troff is not available now, due to limited demand. If the demand picks up, AT&T might carry nroff/troff. Other wp and text-processing software will be available, though.
