Does anyone know how to fix this >problem. > Perhaps a later version of MacWrite will allow this facility.{.....} I may be wrong but I think it is a function of the Imagewriter driver that causes the MacPaint bitmaps to be printed the "standard" way. MS Word does the same thing on the Imagewriter. I think a LaserWriter will do a better job, but using MacDraw for LaserWriter graphics produces the best results (so I heard, no experience here with a LaserWriter). I think this is because MacPaint pics are just bitmaps at the Mac's screen resolution, while MacDraw PICT docs contain more object attribute info. I think that when MacPaint prints on high quality, it uses it's own builtin driver (I know the old version of MacPaint didn't need the Imagewriter driver on it's disk, although the new one complains if it's not there). It used it's own magic to mimic a higher dot density of the Imagewriter. Tim (Now that I wrote this, I'll have to try pasting a MacDraw PICT into Word and see if it looks better on the ImageWriter. I doubt it...)
