MacDraw pics do indeed come out much better in MacWrite (and I presume WORD).
What's more you can resize them without distortion (up to a point). But
the screen gets a bit screwy when scrolling or paging with MW 4.5 if you have
text in the pict, but do not have the appropriate font(s) installed. (This can
happen if you're looking at a file created on another Mac.)

I don't have my copy of Inside Mac to hand, but I believe the reason bitmaps
aren't printed "high-res" has something to do with the IW driver's defaulting
to "bit-thining" to avoid a smudged picture.
