Unlike many EMACS knock-offs, both the editor and the formatter are user-programmable. The language is better than the TECO commands the original EMACS forced you to use, but not as readable as Gosling's "mock lisp". It supports HP and Apple laser printers as well as the usual run of dot-matrix printers, and it is easy to add new printers Other winning features include good cursor key support and a "swap file" that periodically gets saved so that you can recover what you were editing if your system goes down (as, say by the cat trouncing your PC's power cord). The original Final Word was the program that convinced me the time was right to try PC's at all, and FWII is even better. I can barely stand Gosling's EMACS anymore. Usual disclaimers, I'm just a very satisfied customer.
