In my wilder days in college, I participated in the creation of fireballs about fifteen feet across and fifty feet high (no exaggeration). We did it by lofting 10-20 pounds of sawdust over a bonfire, with 5-10 people tossing it over the fire in three stages. The fireballs lasted only a couple of seconds, but could singe your hair.
