Studying the structure of typical "guitar" chords and reproducing them will give a greatly enhanced "sound." For example, the "folk [or any, actually] guitar" patch that comes with the DX-7 is really jumpin.' As a demo, with the sustain pedal depressed, play (starting with the appropriate octave) E A D G B E in ascending order (three octave range here; these are the open strings of the guitar).
