Bruce Wampler's right though, there *does* need to be some place to discuss PD versus copyright versus...since it's clear that lots of folks don't understand the differences. And a lot of people (like me) who care about sources really don't care about the other stuff in net.legal. I'm undecided whether we should create a new group for the discussions or a new group for the sources. One thing I'd like to see is that news software insert a "Followup-To: " in every article that appears in the sources group. (This should happen at each relay site too, if the article does not have a Followup-To: line.) Even if the originating site is running ancient netnews, as soon as the source hits a site running new software, we'll be protected from nerds hitting the "f" key. And, of course, the net.announce.newuser stuff should be updated. By the way, I think the idea of cross-posting the indexes and such across mod.sources and net.sources is ridiculous. Ditto the idea of sending a little message to net.sources whenever you post to mod.sources. If you unsubscribed from mod.sources, it's your problem. If your sysadmin kept net.sources and tossed mod.sources, find another job -- do you really want to work with those idiots anyway? -- John Gilmore {sun,ptsfa,lll-crg,ihnp4}!hoptoad!gnu jgilmore@lll-crg.arpa
