The round trip fare by Air-India (discounted by the local travel agent) is $1,075. This fare is for NYC-Bombay/Delhi round trip. In addition to this, there is a $15 surcharge for week-end flights (leaving on Friday or Saturday) and a $3 airport tax. Some agents in the New York news paper India-Abroad have advertised lower prices for chartered flights. I also know someone who has found the cheapest way to go to India. Fly to -kkAmsterdam by Peoples and then to New Delhi by Aeroflot (The Russian Air Line) via Moscow (free overnight stop). The catch is that (in winter) Moscow airport may be closed due to bad weather. The cost is less that $1,000. - Rajesh Dube.
