Why does this necessarily have to be "God" talking to you?  It is fairly well
accepted that one's own mind can cause various "medical" problems to manifest.

Maybe it was your own guilt over refusing to teach this class that caused your
spasms.  Perhaps it was God, but I don't think so.  I would think it more
likely that the opportunity to teach was an answer to your prayer, but your
back spasms were caused by your own guilt over your hypocrisy.
