I think it's about the size of a 750, >but with 780+ power. It will also be cheap. That is incorrect. The 8800 is a dual processor with a new VAX cpu. Each cpu is rated at 6 MIPS (the 8600 was rated at about 4 MIPS and the 8650 is supposed to be a 40% improvement). The 8300 (I think), which was announced at the same time as the 8800, is also a new cpu and destined to replace 750s and 780s, using about the same floor space as a 750. I don't remember the VAX numbers for that, but there is a single processor and double processor configuration where each cpu is rated at roughly 1.1 MIPS. None of these machines have anything to do with the uVAX-II chip. Steve DiPirro Digital Equipment Corp.
