Yes, it is the same Leigh Brackett (though "writes" is not the
operative term any more; she died in 1978). Why is it peculiar?
In addition to science fiction, she's written a handful of
mysteries (including ghost-writing one published under the by-
line of the actor George Sanders) and won an award one year for
best Western novel. She's also (co-)written a few screenplays,
among them one under current discussion in net.movies (RIO BRAVO)
and a rather obscure sf cult film (THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK).
