Usually, there are verbal and nonverbal clues that tell you whether "no" means "no, never, forget it, yuck," "no, not now, but another time perhaps," "no, because I'm involved with someone, but I'm really tempted, and may get back to you." The only problem is, they're only clues; you have to interpret them, and one can always interpret wrong. So what else is new?
