What are the sources of this "information"? Don't misunderstand me; I think Peter has the right idea (i.e. our social conventions are becoming more tolerent of divorce). However, do Europeans have a higher tolerence for bad marrages than we do? Is it because they drink more wine and beer than we do? :-) I do not think that there are only two major reasons for the high US divorce rate, and I don't agree with the second reason listed. Being celebate usually refers to priests, nuns, and people BEFORE they get married, not after. I can understand a high divorce rate among celebate MARRIED couples ( I'll resist the temptation of an obvious joke). Also, a recent TV news program cited a study that stated that Europeans have just as much premarital sex as Americans (however, they have far fewer unwed pregnancies). I think that we are simply being more tolerent of a once socially undesireable practice. I wonder why. Any ideas? Why does a dog lick its balls? Because it CAN. Peace. Ron
