The main point of the article is that if two unmarried people have a good relationship while living together, it doesn't necessarily mean that they will have a good marriage if & when they decide to get married. The article is condensed from "Parade" and is written by Joyce Brothers. It's too long to include here (along with being copyrighted, etc.), but there are a few interesting points. Here is a quote I found very interesting from Matti Gershenfeld, president of the Couples Learnning Center near Philadelphia: "To maintain their living-together relationship, couples often hide from each other important aspects of their true selves." The article also says that many couples live together instead of getting married because they are afraid of marriage because of seeing parents' or friends' marriages deteriorate. Comments? Anyone out there living with an SO? What do you think of this? I would reccomend this article to anyone who is (or is thinking about) living with an SO before marriage. Even if you disagree with what it says, it does point out some things that prevent living together from being a good "testing ground" for marriage, and what couples can do about it. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Tracey Baker UUCP: {ihnp4,decvax,allegra}!vax135!tab AT&T Bell Laboratories Rm. 4G-637 Crawfords Corner Rd.
