Just wanted to give credit where credit was due... However, I didn't give my impressions on what she had written; here they are forthwith! :-) Her main points were: 1. Men and women are not the same species; Are there "subspecies" of male and female though? We've all heard of Clint Eastwood male types vs. Alan Alda or Phil Donahue male types. And if you ask some men (not me! no flames please) there are girls that you'd marry and girls that you go out with to have a good time. 2. Men's brains operate (if that is the word) differently from women's; and No comment on this one. 3. I just don't understand them. (men) I've found that alot of problems in this area are because of a lack of communication (or as Strother Martin once said "What we have here is a failure to communicate."). I had an interesting conversation on a date once: we were talking about sex and how men assumed that they knew what a woman wanted (to make them happy)...well, needless to say, this caused, as a matter of fact, my date's divorce. She asked me what I would have done differently. Well, I would have asked what it would take to make you happy. She seemed quite surprised by this answer. Guys, do alot of you assume you know or would you ask as I would? And she asked the following rhetorical questions: *Why can't a man be honest?* ??? Depends upon the individual, male or female. *Why do men always fall for the wrong women?* I think I agree with someone else who posted that we tend to want what we can't have or we start to take for granted what we do have. *Why are men so blind about noticing a woman is interested?* Because women aren't as overt about it as men are??? :-) Actually, in my case, I've always known...there are always subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) clues -- you just have to keep your eyes open. I have been *very* interested in the follow-ups to the article; thanks to the many who have commented, it continues to be very interesting and informative (if any of you missed the article, e-mail me, I will be happy to mail you a copy). Oh, BTW, I really appreciate reading a newsgroup that conducts *civil* discussions and I think we should all pat ourselves on the back for that! glen fujimori ihnp4!uw-beaver!{ssc-vax,ssc-bee}!fuji -- glen fujimori ihnp4!uw-beaver!{ssc-vax,ssc-bee}!fuji
