Not true from what I've read.  Hitler was indeed a vegetarian,
and it WAS for moral reasons.  He spent a lot of time at the 
dinner table berating the "carnivores" in his entourage, and 
lecturing on the moral values of vegetarianism.  Reference
is Albert Speer's book.  Speer spent a lot of time with him.

It could be that his digestion was his original reason and the
moral feelings came later.  But I've read 5 or 6 biographies of 
him, and none give this reason.  His moral objections are 
well-documented.  Anyone have any references?

He also did not drink alcohol or smoke.  He disliked others doing so in 
his presence.  And he liked dogs.

I've always thought of this as a marvelous demonstration of the
agility of the human mind.  Or maybe a lesson that we can find
something good about anyone if we look long enough.
