The `.SE LL' instruction is followed by a numerical argument, as in the example below, to set the line length of the text and headers and footers. The following would set the line length to 7.5 inches: .SE LL 7.5i Note that the `.LL' instruction still works as it always has (i.e., it sets only the line length of the body of a document). Another new instruction, `.SE FNNUM', allows you to specify the number to be given to the next automatically numbered footnote (i.e., the number which is produced by `\*F' and `.FN').
