When we try to issue CONNECT commands to configure a terminal port driver (YCDRIVER) for a board which happens not to be in the system, we often get a machine check in the Unit Initialization of the port driver. It is my understanding that the Unit Init routine is NOT supposed to be called for offline devices. The machine check never occurs connecting unit 0 (when the CRB, IDB and first UCB get created), but usually happens on the CONNECT for the second unit. This probably won't show up if the terminal driver is always AUTOCONFIGURED, but if the STARTUP command files try to configure a nonstandard system, any missing devices can cause grief. Anyone else seen any CONNECT problems or have any ideas? Any VMS developers listening? (Seems like a real bug) Art Berggreen ------
