Message-ID: <8603212358.AA15899@ucbvax.berkeley.edu> Date: Fri, 21-Mar-86 19:33:38 EST Article-I.D.: ucbvax.8603212358.AA15899 Posted: Fri Mar 21 19:33:38 1986 Date-Received: Sat, 22-Mar-86 20:33:21 EST Sender: uucp@ucbvax.BERKELEY.EDU Organization: The ARPA Internet Lines: 26 Approved: info-mac@sumex-aim.arpa I am looking for some technical info on the new 800K drives... Specifically, how do they write to the disk? Do they go one-side completely, then the other... Or do we have side-side flipping by track (write top track1, then bottom track1, then top track2....etc....).. Or is it even as sick as Top Bit Bottom Bit next Top Bit flipping.... Does anyone know??? REASON: I want to design something that bit copies a 400K disk to an 800K disk, allowing the other 400K on the 800K to be accessed.....(is there something that does this allready??? we really need one out here in Boston).. If it treats an 800K disk as 2 400K disks laying back-to-back this will 'simplify' the program greatly (i think)... Thanks for your help, Rocko Boston College An Encouragement - if I can get this thing to work, anyone who helps will get a free copy.... (yes, this is a bribe)
